Oregon High Desert Residence

Set against the backdrop of Oregon’s high desert, this addition expands an existing home with a new wing that draws focus toward the landscape. A glass breezeway connects the old and new, framing views of adjacent farmland, distant mountains, and the region’s distinct geological formations.

The program includes a master suite, home office, media room, gym, and indoor climbing wall, all organized around a central stair volume and double-height climbing space. Materials - local stone, natural wood, and blackened steel - were chosen for their durability and tonal restraint, allowing the new architecture to nestle into the terrain.

The addition balances openness and containment, directing movement and sight-lines while maintaining privacy and scale within a broad, exposed setting.
